Basketball Recap: Berean Academy Beats Temple Baptist Academy for Their Fourth Straight Win

Berean Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 65-50 win over the Temple Baptist Academy Royal Crusaders. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Berean Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Daniel Wigginton out in front who posted 16 points. The match was Wigginton's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Mayer Weatherly was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Despite the defeat, Temple Baptist Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Noah Mueller went 8 of 12 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. Mueller is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 20 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Padgett, who had 11 points.

Berean Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Temple Baptist Academy, they moved to 5-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Berean Academy and Temple Baptist Academy will both be playing Mount Pisgah Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Temple Baptist Academy will host Mount Pisgah Christian Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Berean Academy will host them at 6:30 p.m. on December 13th.
