Basketball Recap: Queen Creek Comes Up Short

Queen Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 54-20 loss at the hands of the Williams Field Black Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 83-29 back in January.

Amaya Rodgers and Samarah Garduno certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Rodgers posted nine points and four steals, while Garduno had seven points. That was a full 45% of Queen Creek's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Williams Field's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Carnes, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five steals. Carnes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Ramirez, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards.

Queen Creek's loss dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Williams Field, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-4.

Queen Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-47 defeat against Desert Ridge on the 12th. As for Williams Field, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-58 win against Higley on the 12th.
