Defiance strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They had just enough and edged out the Jonathan Alder Pioneers 3-1.

Brezlen Zipfel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Defiance's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Drew Alllegretti, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Defiance pushed their record up to 16-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Jonathan Alder, their loss dropped their record down to 19-1.

Defiance and Jonathan Alder should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked tenth) will meet Wauseon (ranked 504th) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Jonathan Alder will challenge Logan Elm at 5:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (11 vs. 481).
