Football Recap: Westwood Triumphs + How To Watch

Big Valley came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Westwood, but Ryan Nelson wouldn't allow it. The Lumberjacks came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 30-22 on Friday thanks in part to Nelson, who rushed for 227 yards and three scores while picking up 14.2 yards per carry. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making ten total tackles.

One reason for the win was Westwood's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Dimitrius Valerga. Valerga is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least seven every time he's taken the field this season.

Westwood's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Big Valley, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Westwood has already played their next game, a 30-26 loss against Happy Camp on the 26th. As for Big Valley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Butte Valley at 6:00 p.m. on October 10.
