Baseball Game Preview: Freedom Patriots vs. South Caldwell Spartans

Freedom is 0-10 against South Caldwell since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Patriots will take on the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Freedom had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Hibriten on Monday. The Patriots were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Panthers. The game was the first time the Patriots have beaten the Panthers on their field since May 2, 2022.

Freedom got a massive performance out of JONAH GRIGGS, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs GRIGGS has posted since back in February. KADEN MICHAELS was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Meanwhile, South Caldwell entered their tilt with Lakewood on Thursday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Rangers an 11-0 shutout. South Caldwell's win was all the more impressive since the Rangers were averaging only 2.4 runs allowed on the season.

Freedom's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for South Caldwell, their win bumped their record up to 22-1.

Freedom might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from South Caldwell in their previous meeting on April 8th. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
