Basketball Recap: Coleman Takes a Loss

With Coleman's effective field goal percentage at 100% and St. Charles's at 38% on Friday, the final result was to be expected on Friday. The Coleman Comets had to suffer through a 60-26 loss at the hands of the St. Charles Bulldogs. The Comets have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Coleman still got an impressive performance from Emily VanSickle, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave VanSickle a new career-high in steals (five). Klaira Sysak was another key player, putting up three points along with five rebounds and three steals.

St. Charles' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allison Zelinko, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Zelinko is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nicole Zelinko, who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points and three steals.

Coleman's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for St. Charles, their record now sits at 7-1.

Coleman has already played their next match, a 48-35 loss against Pinconning on the 20th. As for St. Charles, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-47 defeat against Michigan Lutheran Seminary on the 20th.
