Softball Recap: Winnfield's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Winnfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 14-9 to the Lakeside Warriors. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Winnfield got a massive performance out of Kylee Higgs, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Higgs a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna Claire Bartlett, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Even though they lost, Winnfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Winnfield's loss dropped their record down to 6-8-1. As for Lakeside, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Looking ahead, Winnfield will head out on the road to square off against Anacoco at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Winnfield has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Lakeside, they will face off against Ouachita Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
