Softball Game Preview: East Carteret Mariners vs. Southside Seahawks

For the second straight game, East Carteret will face off against Southside. The Mariners will square off against the Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Carteret is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

East Carteret took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Southside 11-1. The Mariners not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 23-5).

Amilya Lewis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lewis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Sadie McIntosh was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grayson Gillikin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple.

East Carteret always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Southside's loss dropped their record down to 9-9-1. As for East Carteret, their record now sits at 10-13.
