Basketball Game Preview: Wendell Trojans vs. Aberdeen Tigers

The Wendell Trojans will square off against the Aberdeen Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Wendell's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Aberdeen has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Wendell is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since February 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Buhl with a sharp 59-39 victory. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Indians are ranked 133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wendell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordon Swainston led the charge by going 8-for-14 to rack up 19 points in addition to six steals and five assists. With that strong performance, Swainston is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Jarett Borges was another key player, as he made all 5 shots he took racking up 14 points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Aberdeen duked it out with Soda Springs on Tuesday. Aberdeen took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Soda Springs.

Wendell has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points over those games. As for Aberdeen, their loss dropped their record down to 3-18.
