Baseball Game Preview: Hillhouse Academics vs. Fairfield Prep Jesuits

The Hillhouse Academics will challenge the Fairfield Prep Jesuits at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Hillhouse turned things around against Wilbur Cross on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Governors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Academics have posted since April 24, 2024.

While Fairfield Prep didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They skirted past Shelton 5-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jesuits.

Cooper Rotondo was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Garofalo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Hillhouse's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Fairfield Prep, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Hillhouse might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Fairfield Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Academics avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
