Baseball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Holy Ghost Prep's Winning Streak

If Holy Ghost Prep was riding high fresh off their 15-1 takedown of Chichester on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Firebirds fell 6-2 to the Germantown Academy Patriots on Saturday. The Firebirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Holy Ghost Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Keaser, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Keaser is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

With the defeat, Holy Ghost Prep broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-8. As for Germantown Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Ghost Prep will venture away from home to square off against Dock Mennonite at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pioneers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Firebirds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Germantown Academy, they will head out on the road to take on St. Mark's at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 3.1, the Spartans 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
