Baseball Game Preview: Cherryvale Chargers vs. Humboldt Cubs

Cherryvale is 2-8 against Humboldt since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chargers will take on the Cubs at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Cherryvale took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against Baxter Springs, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Chargers had just enough and edged out the Lions 3-2. The win was nothing new for the Chargers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Humboldt, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They skirted past Neodesha 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cubs have posted against the Blue Streaks since March 27, 2023.

Cherryvale's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Humboldt, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Cherryvale suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Humboldt when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
