Baseball Recap: Arroyo Drops Season-High Score on El Monte

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arroyo). They put the hurt on the El Monte Lions with a sharp 12-2 win on Friday. The Knights not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10, 2024.

Arroyo let Gio Perez and Manny Vargas run wild. Perez scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Vargas scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave Perez a new career-high.

Arroyo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Monte only managed seven hits.

Arroyo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. El Monte's loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Arroyo will face off against rival Mountain View at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, El Monte is set to take on their familiar foe Gabrielino at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
