Basketball Game Preview: Christian Brothers Falcons vs. Rio Americano Raiders

Christian Brothers is 2-8 against Rio Americano since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Christian Brothers Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Rio Americano Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Christian Brothers is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.1 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Christian Brothers strolled past Bella Vista with points to spare, taking the game 67-50. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Broncos are ranked 569th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Christian Brothers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daniel Powers, who dropped a triple-double with ten points, 11 boards, and ten assists. The dominant performance gave Powers a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Stephan Hewitt, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Rio Americano ended up a good deal behind Inderkum on Wednesday and lost 80-61. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Christian Brothers is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Rio Americano, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.

Christian Brothers beat Rio Americano 57-47 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Christian Brothers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
