Manti and Carbon are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Templars are taking a road trip to square off against the Dinos at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Manti lost 15-3 to Canyon View on Wednesday. The Templars haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Manti saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lane Cox, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Carbon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Manti, falling 10-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Stockton Kennedy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.
At the plate, Logan Madrigal was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Rydge Butler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Carbon's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Manti, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Carbon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Manti hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for Carbon, though, as they've only averaged .220. Will they be able to contain Manti's hitters?
Everything went Manti's way against Carbon when the teams last played on Tuesday, as Manti made off with a 10-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Templars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
