Baseball Game Preview: Corydon Central Panthers vs. Scottsburg Warriors

The Corydon Central Panthers will challenge the Scottsburg Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Corydon Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Charlestown. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Pirates on their field since May 27, 2016.

Meanwhile, Scottsburg had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Cubs by a score of 4-1.

Garrett McClellan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brandt Kendall, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Ty Roberts was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Corydon Central's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Scottsburg, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.
