Baseball Recap: Navarre Takes a Loss

Navarre was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tate Aggies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Aggies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in March.

Gavin Gray was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Navarre saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bo Shipley, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Navarre's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Tate, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-9 record.

Navarre and Tate could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Raiders will face off against Pace at 7:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (335 vs. 22). Meanwhile, Tate (ranked 117th) will meet Sayre (ranked fifth) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
