Soccer Game Preview: Salem vs. George Washington

The Salem Spartans will face off against the George Washington Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Salem had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least four goals, but Blacksburg put an end to it on Tuesday. The Spartans came up short against the Bruins, falling 4-1. Salem's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, George Washington fought the good fight in their overtime game against Halifax County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Comets by a score of 3-2.

George Washington now has a losing record of 5-6-3. As for Salem, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Everything went Salem's way against George Washington when the teams last played back in March, as Salem made off with a 6-2 win. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
