Shenandoah had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Triton Central Tigers on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Collin Osenbaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Drew Fredenburg was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Aiden Coffey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Shenandoah's victory bumped their record up to 22-4. As for Triton Central, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-6.
Looking ahead, Shenandoah will take on Evansville Mater Dei at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Triton Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
