Baseball Recap: Chugiak Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Chugiak unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Service Cougars by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Owen Dockstader made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Cole Lux was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

The victory (which was Service's 15th in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Chugiak will venture away from home to face off against Ketchikan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Service, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 13-0 win against Bartlett on the 21st.
