Softball Recap: Edmund Burke Academy Spartans vs. Southland Academy Raiders
With a playoff game on the line, Edmund Burke Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Southland Academy Raiders. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 9-4 defeat the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2018.
Addison Riggs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Leila Eastmead was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, a run, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Bonnell, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Edmund Burke Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Southland Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
