Dominican had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt St. Joseph on Thursday. The Knights put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won seven in a row.
Dominican was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-20, 25-20.
Dominican can attribute much of their success to Sydney Knautz, who had 13 digs. That's the most digs Knautz has posted since back in October of 2024.
Meanwhile, St. Thomas More got the win against St. Catherine's on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0.
The final score came out to 25-11, 25-18, 25-5.
Dominican better focus on containing Brenna Gutowski and Kaylee Kovacovich as the pair were huge in St. Thomas More's win. Gutowski had six aces and four assists, while Kovacovich had six aces.
St. Thomas More was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 12 consecutive matchups.
Dominican's record now sits at 19-4. As for St. Thomas More, their record is now 15-9.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Dominican has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.1 aces per game. However, it's not like St. Thomas More struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
