The Plymouth Christian Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Greenhills Gryphons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Plymouth Christian Academy is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Novi just ended the team's 14-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 8-3 to the Wildcats.
Carter Dattillio made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Shollack, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Greenhills waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Yellowjackets. The result was nothing new for the Gryphons, who have now won 18 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Charlie Rich looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Josh Dorfman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kade Mason, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Greenhills' win was their 14th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 32-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Plymouth Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 26-8.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Plymouth Christian Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Greenhills struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Plymouth Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Greenhills in their previous meeting back in April, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
