Football Recap: South Shore Vikings vs. Monsignor Farrell Lions
South Shore had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 45-0 loss at the hands of the Monsignor Farrell Lions. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the Lions are ranked 19th).
Leading Monsignor Farrell to victory were Kevin Gumb Jr and Bryce Moye. Gumb Jr gained 154 total yards and two touchdowns, while Moye threw for 155 yards and three TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes. Those 155 passing yards gave Moye a new career-high.
South Shore will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tottenville at 12:00 p.m. on the 13th. As for Monsignor Farrell, they will square off against Christian Brothers Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
