Preview: Bluefield Beavers vs. Mount View Golden Knights

Bluefield is 8-2 against Mount View since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Bluefield Beavers are on the road again and plays the Mount View Golden Knights at 6:45 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Bluefield is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mount View in West Virginia (Bluefield is ranked 12th, while Mount View is ranked 97th).

Last Tuesday, Bluefield lost to Shady Spring on the road by a decisive 55-38 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bluefield has scored all season.

Meanwhile, Mount View didn't have too much trouble with Van on the road on Tuesday as they won 51-33. The win was just what Mount View needed coming off of a 55-32 loss in their prior game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthias Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaron Hale, who scored 21 points along with four steals.

Bluefield's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Mount View, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.

Bluefield took their victory against Mount View in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 by a conclusive 51-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bluefield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
