Basketball Game Preview: Como-Pickton Eagles vs. Cumby Trojans

The Como-Pickton Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Cumby Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Como-Pickton was beaten by Cooper 52-17. The Eagles have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Cumby hadn't done well against Yantis recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Cumby put the hurt on Yantis with a sharp 77-52 victory. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Cumby's win came from a few key players Como-Pickton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chett Vaughan, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 24 points and six boards. His evening made it 29 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dakari Johnson, who went 8 for 11 en route to 17 points.

Cumby smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Cumby has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 45 points. As for Como-Pickton, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-22.

Como-Pickton lost to Cumby on the road by a decisive 68-49 margin in their previous matchup on January 3rd. Can Como-Pickton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
