Basketball Game Preview: BASIS - Mesa vs. Berean Academy Eagles

BASIS - Mesa will take on the Berean Academy Eagles in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in BASIS - Mesa's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

BASIS - Mesa took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 58-50 win over Skyline - Gila River.

BASIS - Mesa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Frivaldo, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave Frivaldo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Omari Hester, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 15 points and eight steals.

Meanwhile, Berean Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 39-35 to Skyline - Gila River. The Eagles have struggled against Skyline - Gila River recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

BASIS - Mesa will need to focus on slowing down Caleb Ayala, one of several Berean Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He posted ten points and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Caden Tanabe, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

BASIS - Mesa's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Berean Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

BASIS - Mesa came up short against Berean Academy when the teams last played back in January, falling 55-44. Thankfully for BASIS - Mesa, Jeremiah Armstrong (who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
