Basketball Recap: Swain County Comes Up Short

Swain County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 87-62 to the Murphy Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-39 last Friday.

Murphy was led to victory by Cale Harger and Connor Golden. Harger went 8-for-12 on his way to 19 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Golden went 6-for-7 from beyond the arc to rack up 18 points and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Golden now owns an excellent 41.8% three-point shooting accuracy. Tyler Payne was another key player, going 5-for-6 en route to 11 points and five assists.

Swain County's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Murphy, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.

Swain County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-52 defeat against Andrews on the 11th. As for Murphy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 58-53 loss against Hayesville on the 11th.
