Basketball Recap: Franklin Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Iliana Rodriguez and Emily Zeck

Franklin Academy played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 40-16 to the Falls Lake Firebirds. The Patriots were down 37-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Emily Zeck and Iliana Rodriguez certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Zeck posted seven points, while Rodriguez had six points.

Falls Lake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeneen Mason, who scored 11 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Madison Oakley was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Franklin Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Falls Lake, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-7.

Franklin Academy has already played their next contest (against Raleigh Charter), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Falls Lake, they will challenge Research Triangle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
