Avery has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. After both having extra time off, they and the Bowie Pirates will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Avery started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-22, 15-11.
Meanwhile, Bowie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Hughes Springs, falling 3-0.
While Bowie had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least ten points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-19, 25-14.
Avery has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Bowie, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Everything went Avery's way against Bowie in their previous matchup back in September of 2023 as Avery made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Avery since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
