Basketball Recap: Mother Seton Setters vs. Dunellen Destroyers

The Mother Seton Setters lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 38-15 walloping at the hands of Dunellen. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mother Seton in their matchups with the Destroyers: they've now lost four in a row.

Dunellen found their leader in underclassman Brielle Villanueva-Jadotte, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Villanueva-Jadotte is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last ten games she's played. Wendy Woll was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Mother Seton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Dunellen, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mother Seton will take on the Governors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. South Amboy's defense has only allowed 29.7 points per game this season, so the Setters' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Dunellen, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Patriots at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Perth Amboy Vo-Tech has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while the Destroyers will arrive with three straight wins.
