Softball Recap: DuQuoin Comes Up Short

DuQuoin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Benton Rangers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 two weeks ago.

Lucy Milam was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two doubles. Isabele Jones was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

DuQuoin's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Benton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.

DuQuoin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-3 defeat against Pinckneyville on the 21st. As for Benton, they have also already played their next game, a 7-6 victory against Nashville on the 22nd.
