Softball Recap: Vernonia Comes Up Short

Vernonia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 14-6 to the Nestucca Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 on Tuesday.

Momi Leininger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Cambell Zavales also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Vernonia's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Nestucca, their record is now 3-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Vernonia beat the Bobcats by a score of 9-4 later that day.
