Recap: Metlakatla Chiefs vs. Wrangell Wolves
The Metlakatla Chiefs had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.6 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They put the hurt on Wrangell with a sharp 54-34 victory. Metlakatla has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 20 points or more this season.
Among those leading the charge was Lexi Cook, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Ryley Booth was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Metlakatla pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home. As for Wrangell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Metlakatla and Haines will face off on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
