Sylmar is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Poly and snuck past 2-1.

Alex Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive pitching appearances.

Meanwhile, it was close, but last Wednesday Bell sidestepped Garfield for a 4-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Bell.

Bell also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Jayden Rojas gave up just two earned runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Bell's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Angel Arambula, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Sylmar's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5. As for Bell, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sylmar has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Sylmar came up short against Bell when the teams last played back in March of 2019, falling 6-2. Can Sylmar avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
