Recap: West Orange Warriors vs. Winter Haven Blue Devils

It was a good run, but the West Orange Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They were beaten by Winter Haven 70-31. While losing is never fun, West Orange can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Winter Haven is ranked ninth).

When it comes to explaining why West Orange lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zulmalyz Sanchez. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points.

Winter Haven found their leader in underclassman Serenity Hardy, who scored 26 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Hardy has scored at least a third of Winter Haven's points. Dashanique Henry was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

West Orange's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Winter Haven, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

West Orange and Colonial will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Colonial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. Winter Haven does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
