Softball Recap: Lawrence County Beats Deshler for Their Sixth Straight Win

Lawrence County waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Deshler Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 on Friday.

McKinley McCaghren spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alivia Templeton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Reagan Smith was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Lawrence County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Lawrence County pushed their record up to 33-9-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Deshler, their loss dropped their record down to 24-12.

Lawrence County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Brooks on the 14th. As for Deshler, they have also already played their next matchup, an 11-0 victory against Muscle Shoals on the 14th.
