League recap: Lopez's hitting boosts Palmer

2A Region II District 13 league recap: 3/13/13

Isaac Lopez was on fire this week, as he led 2A Region II District 13 with a .438 average, two home runs and nine RBIs. Palmer compiled a record of 4-1 in that time.

The league's top pitcher this week was the Bulldogs' Colten Richardson. Over the past week, he had two wins and 11 Ks.

Palmer's pitchers have displayed incredible control over the past week and all season, giving up just four walks over the past seven days and 40 on the year, both No. 1 in the league.

2A Region II District 13's Richardson had a great week on the mound, as he led the league with two wins and 11 strikeouts.

The league boasted six .400 hitters over the past week. The group was paced by Forrest Lane, who collected three hits in five at bats for a .600 average.



Richardson struck out nine in the Bulldogs' 14-3 win over Crandall on March 9. Over his five innings pitched he allowed three runs on five hits.

Lopez drove in four runners on Thursday in Palmer's 10-0 victory over Lone Oak. He went 2-for-2 and scored two runs.
