Basketball Recap: Highland Find Success

Grants came into Friday's game looking for another win against Highland, but Jesus Licon wouldn't allow it. The Highland Hornets came out on top against the Grants Pirates by a score of 73-60 on Friday thanks in part to Licon, who went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc to rack up 30 points and seven boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Highland's points.

DJ Spruell was another key player, putting up eight points and six assists. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024.

The victory got Highland back to even at 12-12. As for Grants, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season.

Coming up, Highland will head out to face off against Valencia at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season. As for Grants, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Belen at 7:00 p.m.
