Recap: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Resurrection Christian Cougars
The Mountain View Mountain Lions lost against the Resurrection Christian Cougars back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The match between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Mountain View falling 34-19. They were down 27-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Mountain View's loss came despite strong showings from Trent Lawson and Bergen Roth. Lawson picked up 77 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Roth threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Resurrection Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hunter Hansen, who rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Hansen is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Resurrection Christian also got a significant boost from Jackson Pszanka, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Mountain View and nudges their season record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-2 Thompson Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 80.4% over those games). As for Resurrection Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Mountain View will be playing in front of their home fans against Severance at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Severance is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Resurrection Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Northridge at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th.
