Football Recap: Desert Heights Prep Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Desert Heights Prep can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 58-0 loss at the hands of the Mohave Accelerated Patriots. The Yote were red-hot offensively heading into the matchup (they scored no less than 31 points in the four games prior), but the Patriots' defense proved too tough.

Justin Aguon threw for 47 yards on seven of 14 attempts.

Mohave Accelerated's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rylan Krahenbuhl led the charge by throwing for 165 yards and five touchdowns on only nine passes. Krahenbuhl's passing game has become a key predictor of the Patriots' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Mohave Accelerated's leading receiver Owen Honegger was Krahenbuhl's top target yet again, picking up 104 receiving yards and three scores.

Desert Heights Prep's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Mohave Accelerated, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

As of now, neither Desert Heights Prep nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
