Keyser relied on the efforts of Kameron Samples, who went 7 for 14 to rack up 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, and Braylon Mcgreevy, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 12 points and eight boards. Mcgreevy is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last six games he's played. Lane Champion was another key player, putting up nine points.
Keyser smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Southern posted their biggest win since January 11th on Friday. They blew past Northern Garrett 78-54. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Rams had established a 20 point advantage.
Southern had a senior duo take command as Brayden Upole went 9 for 17 en route to 22 points along with six assists and three steals and Jared Haskiell went 7 of 14 on his way to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Brown, who posted 11 points and five assists.
Keyser's record now sits at 6-8. As for Southern, their record now sits at 9-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Keyser has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Southern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Keyser strolled past Southern in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 63-47. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Haskiell, who went 10 for 20 to rack up 25 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Keyser still be able to contain Haskiell? There's only one way to find out.
