Recap: Desert Christian Knights vs. Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals
The Desert Christian Knights lost against the Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Desert Christian had to suffer through a rough 54-14 loss at the hands of Santa Clarita Christian. Desert Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-0.
Desert Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Francisco Balcorta, who threw for 95 yards and a touchdown. Raymond Latimore was another key contributor, rushing for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Cayden Rappleye continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Santa Clarita Christian, rushing for 71 yards and five touchdowns, while also throwing for 162 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes. Another player making a difference was Eli Duhm, who picked up 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Desert Christian and nudges their season record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-2 Lancaster Baptist (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75% over those games). As for Santa Clarita Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Christian will challenge Faith Baptist at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Santa Clarita Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Lancaster Baptist at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lancaster Baptist will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
