Baseball Recap: Rockledge Comes Up Short

Rockledge had lost six straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 11-13 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Satellite Scorpio by a score of 10-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Scorpio this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 back in February.

As for Satellite, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. Ten seems to be a good number for them as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Satellite's part, Brady Roberts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Roberts has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Satellite: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

Roberts wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noah Ott, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Eli Welsh was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Rockledge and Satellite are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Raiders will challenge Palm Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Rockledge's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Satellite, they will take on Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Commodores have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
