Basketball Recap: Prairie's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Prairie had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 90-54 victory over the Waterloo West Wahawks. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Prairie pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Waterloo West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Prairie will venture away from home to face off against Cedar Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Prairie knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Cedar Falls likes a good challenge. As for Waterloo West, they will challenge Iowa City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Iowa City has five straight victories, Waterloo West has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
