Baseball Recap: Mayfield Wildcats vs. Chardon Hilltoppers

Mayfield extended their losing streak to eight on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-14 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chardon Hilltoppers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hilltoppers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-8 on Tuesday.

AJ Rogers, Jr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
