Basketball Recap: Eastern Greene Falls Despite Big Games from Coby Sykes and Kyan Hudson

Eastern Greene lost against Orleans back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Eastern Greene Thunderbirds fell to the Orleans Bulldogs 51-46. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 79th).

Kyan Hudson and Coby Sykes certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hudson en route to 22 points, while Sykes to rack up 15 points. The contest was Sykes' eighth in a row with at least 15 points. Dane Talbott was another key player, putting up six points.

Nate Brown was nothing short of spectacular for Orleans: he on his way to 16 points. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Jones, who to rack up 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Eastern Greene and nudges their season record down to 8-13. As for Orleans, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern Greene will venture away from home to face off against Edgewood at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Orleans, they will head out to square off against Brownstown Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
