Recap: Blackwell Hornets vs. Brookesmith Mustangs
This season hasn't been kind to the Blackwell Hornets, who are still winless after their tenth match. They were dealt a 80-34 loss at the hands of Brookesmith on Tuesday. Blackwell was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brookesmith apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
It was another big night for Trey Toft, who scored 31 points for Brookesmith. That makes it four consecutive games in which Toft has scored at least 25% of Brookesmith's points. Jase Moreno was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Blackwell's defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-10. As for Brookesmith, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.
Blackwell will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Veribest at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Brookesmith, they will be playing at home against Panther Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
