Softball Game Preview: Olympus Titans vs. Woods Cross Wildcats

The Olympus Titans will head out on the road to take on the Woods Cross Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Olympus will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

While Olympus' victory against East wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Titans narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Leopards 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Titans have posted since March 7th.

Charlie Turner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Olympus got a big performance out of Adi Comer, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Stern, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Woods Cross was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to Viewmont. The Wildcats have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Olympus pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Woods Cross, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Woods Cross' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Olympus has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Woods Cross, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Olympus keep running through batters, or will the Wildcats buck the trend?

Olympus took their win against Woods Cross when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
