Basketball Game Preview: Wellington Skyrockets vs. New Deal Lions

The Wellington Skyrockets will challenge the New Deal Lions on Thursday. Wellington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully New Deal likes a good challenge.

Wellington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Stratford 69-66. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Skyrockets have posted since November 12, 2024.

Meanwhile, after only 23 points in their last contest, New Deal made sure to put some points up on the board against Olton on Monday. New Deal managed a 61-57 win over Olton. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won four in a row.

Wellington is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points over those games. As for New Deal, their win bumped their record up to 22-12.
